LOTHAR SCHMID, un í rbitre d’escacs molt popular
El Gran Mestre alemany Lothar Schmid ( nascut el 10 de maig 1928) durant molts anys ha estat un dels í rbitres més populars del món dels escacs.

Entre les seves actuacions més famoses hi figuren el duel pel títol mundial entre Fischer i Spassky a Reykjavik l’any 1972 i el duel Karpov – Kortschnoi a les Filipines l’any 1978.

Però al marge d’això, aquest Gran Mestre i í rbitre de mí xim nivell mundial, posseeix la major biblioteca privada d’escacs del món, amb més de 20.000 llibres. També té moltes obres mestres de l’art dels escacs, una gran varietat de taulers i peces d’arreu del món.
