Rellotges d’escacs.
Els primers rellotges d’escacs que es van utilitzar per a controlar el temps de les partides d’escacs van ser els rellotges de sorra.
El primer match jugat amb límit de temps va ser el que va enfrontar a Anderssen i Kolisch l’any 1861. Els jugadors havien de fer 24 jugades en 2 hores.
